Setbacks and patience

As fall rolls on, not much has been accomplished on Old Biddy. The theme this past month was to have patience...lots and lots of patience. I will try to explain.
At the beginning of July, I ordered front and rear windscreen rubbers from a fellow in Australia. He said they had both in stock and would ship them together to save on shipping. I was told I would receive them “in a couple weeks”. Well, that did not happen. Ten weeks later I received the front rubber set and then another front rubber set at a much high shipping charge. After a nice note, he did rectify the situation by finally sending me a rear rubber for free! Kudos to Rotary Products!!

Then, I ordered a jug of hydrolastic fluid from MiniMania. They said they had it in stock and I should receive it in five days. But then, they e-mailed me to tell me otherwise. Three weeks later, I finally received the five liter can via FedEx.

Since the upholstery shop, who recovered my rear seat back, decided that they did not want to do the interior vinyl work, I took the task as a challenge. I asked the folks in the BMC1100 forum about the vinyl. They told me to go to JoAnn Fabrics to get three yards of their Arctic gray vinyl. I will do this after this hurricane passes. I drew up a crude template and asked if someone could sit in their car and draw on the template where the vinyl seams are on the pillars.

Someone actually did! I will receive the corrected drawing in the mail this week depending on the storm's ferrociousness. Now, that I have the hydrolastic fluid, I will call Chris to have him pump up the suspension. I cannot wait to start working on the car again!
Thanks for visiting.
